Nursery Crawl #2, Well...not really.

La Casita, East Anderson Lane on the Railroad Tracks
Terry and Randy having some of the fire engine Green Salsa...Jalapenos, mint, onions, spices....mmmmm.... I caught this before Terry broke out in a full on sweat!
Last Friday we'd agreed to meet at my house to review La Casita, on Anderson Lane, my favorite place in walking distance from my house then hit 4 nurseries around North Central Austin. So far, it's the best Mole we've found. I generally go for the Mole, Terry gets the veggie plate of some sort and Randy's all about meat. No pun intended. The food is outstanding. They have a blended fresh jalapeno sauce that is to die for and melt in your mouth Charro beans. Only one problem...no Margaritas. You can get a beer...but we're purists, we need agave juice. So we had to walk to back to my house and make a pitcher. Needless to say, we ended up watching YouTube and laughing our heads off...not a plant entered the picture. So, this Friday we had to reign in our enthusiasm. Not wanting to take the fun out of the fun, I made a nice morning drink to set us on our way. Here's my fabulous recipe for a long cold day of work (ha!)

One package hot chocolate (I get the ones with mini-marshmallows)
extra hand of mini-marshmallows
One shot Peppermint Schnapps
1/2 cup good strong coffee
fill the rest of the cup to brim with hot water.

It's a spin on my old ski lodge fav, the Peppermint Patty...but with constitutional caffeine. I'll call it a Peppermint Cheryl...lacks alliteration but adds a bit of zip. It hit the spot and we were off!

I'm going to add a self taken photo of us after the meal...with indications of satisfaction...or heaven help us...Mexicanos Disasteros...which plagued me after the next adventure! Dios Mio!
Tune into the next blog diary for our exciting findings!

We are: 3 Garden Nerds in search of gorgeous landscape, the best Nursery deals, the perfect Margarita and cheap Mexican Food in Austin, TX.

It looks like you guys know how to have fun.
My absolute favorite mexican food place was El Matamoros. It used to be on the west access road between 3rd and 4th st. I took many a date there when I was younger. Then they got closed down for serving horse meat. They opened a year later. The enchiladas tasted the same. Then they closed them down for good for using dog food.

I don't know what that says for my likes in food, but, hey, it was great Mexican.
