Autumn Showers

After Tuesday's storm the weather station pronounced this to be the second wettest September on record for Austin. There are new blossoms daily in the garden and I just wanted to showcase a few lovelies of the season...

Man's perch for rainy September days.

My suburban paradise.

Majestic Sage in her Autumn glory.

New growth on the Japanese Maple.

Martha Gonzales

Finally the Mexican Sage and cuphea are going wild, but what is hidden from this view is blooming curry, rosemary and cannas.

New gold lantana, ponys foot, crape myrtle, Mexican oregano and bulbine.

Pigeon berry, that came back from the garden tour last year. It was trampled by unaccompanied children and I thought it was gone!

Shot of the side garden...jungle...the passion flower vine has now reached the roof.

It's almost time to make the second batch of pesto. I use mostly the sweet basil but like to toss it up a bit with Thai and lemon basil as well.

The magically re-appearing sorrel...third year now. I always think it's finished in July, then...after a good rain, she lives.

A volunteer Datura on the mound, with bean sprouts in front of the cedar fence.

Eggplant flower, from the spring planting.

First of the fall fruits.

Autumn clematis in her fall bridal colors.

What's happening in your garden? It's a gorgeous day...I'm going to get out there and plant some more fall veggies and soak up some sun!

Happy Gardening!

I have a little piece of your paradise growing in my garden. Remember, I asked for some seedlings of mother of thousands. Well one plant has settled in quite nicely over here. i dare say I will have to take it out for the winter. Like you I am fond of lemon basil- in fact I love it and sometimes use only this in my pasta dishes along with lemon zest. I save the other basil for caprese. Happy fall gardening.

I love your garden....so when you're saying gorgeous, you mean that you love hot and humid days?:)

I can feel the difference between 102 and 92 degrees, yes...it doesn't seem terribly hot and humid to me:)

Lucky you to get all that rain! (I'm still waiting for fall rains here.) I'm glad to hear about your sorrel. I'm growing it for the first time and I really didn't think it'd make it out of the summer. It looks really bad now but maybe if we get those fall rains...

the garden is looking great, and I especially adore that picture window view.

I'm so glad Austin has had some rain to make up for all the months of drought. Your garden certainly shows how happy it is about that! I wish I could say the same of my corner of Katy!

Hello, my first visit here, came in via Dorothy's. You have a nice garden, but most of the plants i love there are the rosemary for its fragrance, and the eggplant for the fruits, haha! I hope that black cat will not destroy some of your new plantings. Happy gardening.
